Oh boy, last week’s post covering the impact of the coronavirus on the watch industry took an unexpected turn. Last evening we were informed that Swatch Group has decided to cancel Time To Move due to the coronavirus.
Personally, I was very much looking forward to the event this time around, not too thrilled to have received this update. Seems a little bit over the top, but then again who am I to judge.
Swatch Group’s statement is hard to argue with: “Considering the uncertainty related to the 2019-nCoV Coronavirus outbreak, and in order to guarantee the welfare of our guests, partners, and colleagues, Swatch Group has decided not to hold the Time to Move event….”
The brands participating to Time To Move are a.o. Breguet, Blancpain, Omega, Harry Winston, Glashutte Original and Jaquet Droz. The latest information states that the brands will be holding regional events where they will be presenting their latest releases which were to be unveiled at Time To Move.
Now, the interesting part is will other brands do the same thing?
