Release: Sinn 2020 Novelties 556 I RS 556 A RS

While all the attention were on the new U50 divers from Sinn, they also released two variants of the ever popular 556 series.  It is the entry level collection for Sinn watches, but they are still made to be tough as nails.

As from a previous article where I chose the 556 I as my pick for the sub $1K GADA genre.  These 556s aren’t new in terms of movement update or case design, but rather a change to the seconds hand.

As in the current 556 I and 556 A, both come with a smooth black dial where the “I” has the indexes while the “A” has 3,6,9, and 12 on the quarters.  In the past, you can request Sinn to change the white painted seconds hand for a red seconds hand.  However, due to its popularity, Sinn decided to offer the red seconds hand on both 556 I and 556 A  as a stand alone, and hence the “RS” in the name.

The older 556 I with White Seconds Hand

As you can see from the picture I have taken at the Sinn store in Romer, the 556 I with white seconds hand looks like a completely different watch compared to the RS.

While the prices are the same, the red seconds hand adds a nice touch and provides a field watch/military vibe in comparison with the white seconds hand.  The watch can come with a fitted satinized bracelet or a black leather strap with red stitching to match the red seconds hand.
