Upcoming Auction: A Private Collection of 200 Seiko Wristwatches

All Seiko enthusiasts should be blocking 17-25 August in their calendars. Bonhams is hosting an auction focusing on Japanese wristwatches. Two Hundred (Grand) Seiko watches total. Based on the previews released, there are a couple of beauties from both Seiko and Grand Seiko.

The auction is taking place online only, so everyone has a chance to get a piece of the action here. The auction covers a wide range of prices, there’s likely something for everyone (not to be taken literally).

One of the pieces that are currently shown to be part of the collection is this rare steel “Tokyo Summer Olympic 1964” ChronographChronograph A chronograph complication is a feature in a watch that allows the wearer to measure elapsed time in addition to telling the time. It works by having a separate set of gears and levers, called the chronograph mechanism, which is activated by pressing a button or a pusher. The chronograph mechanism starts and stops the chronograph's second hand, which is usually located on the watch's dial, separate from the regular watch hands.
