Release: IWC Portugieser 3716 – IW371616 and IW371615
Now In Red and Green

Earlier this year, IWC made an update to one of the constants in its line up, the 3714 Portugieser chronographChronograph A chronograph complication is a feature in a watch that allows the wearer to measure elapsed time in addition to telling the time. It works by having a separate set of gears and levers, called the chronograph mechanism, which is activated by pressing a button or a pusher. The chronograph mechanism starts and stops the chronograph's second hand, which is usually located on the watch's dial, separate from the regular watch hands. The elapsed time is usually displayed on a sub-dial or a register on the watch's dial. [Learn More].  This has not seen any changes despite years of updates across the board.

The updated reference 3716 made some minor changes, with the case being slightly larger now at 41mm compared with the 40.9mm case previously and instead of the modified Valjoux 7750, it received the inhouse 69335 with a display caseback showing off this movement.  The movement has a 46 hour power reserveRéserve de marche Also known as Power Reserve. A watch's power reserve refers to the amount of time a mechanical watch can run without being wound. The power reserve of a mechanical watch can vary depending on the size of the mainspring, the efficiency of the gear train, and the rate at which the mainspring releases energy. If a watch has a Power Reserve 'complication' it simply means that the status of the power reserve can be seen on the watch itself (either on the dial or movement side of the watch). [Learn More] and instead of using cam and lever, it has a column wheel.

For 2020, IWC introduces two new dial colors to the current 3716 line up with a burgundy and green dial.  Both have sunburst finishing that pops in the light as seen in the photos.  These watches have the same size and movement as the current 3716.

The thin almost non-existent bezel makes this dial look bigger than its case diameter suggests and even with the bold colors, these watches are still on the dressier side as with the rest of the 3716 collection.

Both the burgundy and green have the same price as the other models at $7,950 and should be available soon in authorize dealers and boutiques
