With the release of the Apple Watch Series 4 it has become very clear that Apple is targeting one of the world’s most profitable industries: The Healthcare Industry.
In a newsflash sent out earlier today, it has been announced that thousands of patients awaiting hip & knee surgery will be able to communicate “basic health data directly from their Apple Watches to their surgeons under a new app being tested by prosthetic limb specialist Zimmer Biomet” It will send basic data such as heart rate and the rather relevant steps taken and standing hours from when patients are either waiting for or recovering this type of surgery.
Hip Knee surgery being one of the most common surgeries in the States (as per Reuters more than one million such surgeries take place there every year), this sure sounds like a healthy prospect for the Apple Watch’s future.
