Titan Company Limited, the world’s fifth largest wrist watch manufacturer and India’s leading producer of watches, has recently increased its efforts to battle the counterfeit industry filing a number of cases against a number of platforms and sellers.
It has filed a case against Snapdeal, an Indian e-commerce company based in New Delhi, which is allowing listings of counterfeit watches to remain active on the platform. In addition it has also filed several cases against the sellers responsible for the listings.
The watches from one of its brands that fall victim to counterfeits are from Fastrack. These are watches that sit below EUR 50 a piece. Counterfeit watches are clearly not a “privilege” reserved to the very high end watches in the industry.
